A response to the Assassination of Haiti’s President

NOVA Hope for Haiti’s mission is to provide primary medical care to people in Haiti who have no access to it otherwise. We are not affiliated to with any political movement in the US or Haiti, nor are we affiliated with any religious institution. Our mission is simply to provide medical care.

We are saddened by the recent months of unrest, kidnapping, and violence and we are shocked by the assassination today of Haiti’s president, Jovenel Moïse. However, NOVA Hope for Haiti remains committed to our mission of providing medical care to our community. We have provided care through earthquakes, hurricanes, political instability, and a global pandemic. We believe that if children and adults were to lose access to their doctors, nurses, and the care that they provide, it would make a tragic situation even worse. We will do our best to make sure that does not happen at NOVA. Out of an abundance of caution and concern for our staff, we have closed our clinics for today. We will monitor the situation, but if the southern part of Haiti where NOVA’s clinics are located remains calm, we plan to reopen tomorrow and remain open to care for the people we serve.
